OUR STORY
The Notre Dame Primary After School Club was set up in the late 1990s by parents and staff of
Notre Dame Primary School who were desperate for flexible and affordable after school care for their children.
It existed for a couple of decades through the sheer hard work and determination of numerous parents and school support staff, but the road was often bumpy, the number of children fluctuated greatly and the Afty was never regarded as an enterprise opportunity or a future thriving business.
In 2010, Suet Lin Teo, a parent from the school, undertook the running of the Afty with the aim of turning it into a viable service. Among other things, Suet introduced formal structures, policies and guidelines, she created job descriptions for playworkers and she encouraged existing staff to work towards gaining specific childcare qualifications........ and this was the birth of the Afty which exists today.
Suet is currently one of the directors of the Afty and also a key member of the Steering group -
and her knowledge and experience remain invaluable!
Now, following in Suet's footsteps, Angela and her team of dedicated playworkers work tirelessly to
provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment for the children.
The Afty recognises the importance of working together with families and is constantly striving to provide the best possible service while keeping it affordable and offering flexibility when family circumstances and situations change.
In May 2021, the Afty became registered with the Care Inspectorate,
a testament to the commitment, determination and professionalism of the team.....
.....and so the journey continues.
The success of the Afty is also thanks to your fantastic children and all the Afty families.
A huge thank you for all your wonderful support throughout the years!
